The Hunters returned with sticks in hand,
Pre-season fun was all we’d planned.
Six-a-side upon half a pitch,
Goals galore – which one to which?
Emily S and Emily D,
Both struck true for all to see.
Stacey, Jenny, Ali C too,
All found the net (and more broke through!).
Imogen’s back with a grin so wide,
Alongside Jenny by her side.
Emily D returned as well,
Her hockey tales we can’t wait to tell.
A cheer for Sarah, fresh and keen,
Returning to hockey with boundless sheen.
Her spirit shone, her smile was bright,
A Hunter born – it felt just right.
Ros was running, stick in hand,
So good to see her back on land.
Outfield play before the goal,
After last year’s broken-hand toll.
Hannah raced with speed and flair,
Showing skill beyond compare.
Ali T drove hard with might,
Her energy gave us all delight.
Lizzie was lightning, swift and bold,
With ball control a joy to behold.
Her speedy runs lit up the game,
A Hunter star to stake her claim.
Though sidelined, Alie Winter came,
Running subs and calling names.
Helping out despite her plight,
Her Hunters heart was shining bright.
We practised skills once goals were done,
Reverse, sweep, strike – all part of the fun.
Then off we trooped, a happy bunch,
To Tap & Social for drinks and munch.
The votes came in for POM this day,
A four-way tie – hip hip hooray!
Imogen, Stacey, Rayhana too,
And Neja shone with stick so true.
But LOM went to Ali C,
Who played for… both teams? Possibly!
Confusion reigned but laughter too,
That lemon crown belonged to you.
And let’s give thanks where thanks is due,
To Kath who umpired, wise and true.
Her guidance helped the game flow fast,
And made sure fun was had by all at last.
And while we played, who stole the show
Two tiny Hunters in the know:
Lucas and Lyla, cute and loud,
Cheering us on, they drew the crowd.
So here’s to a season, fresh and bright,
With goals and giggles every night.
The Hunters roar, both strong and true,
And hockey’s back – we’ve missed you too!
