HNHC 2s Dev Saturday 16th March

The sun was out for our last home game of the season against Newmarket 3s.
Both teams played without a goalkeeper so Catherine stepped in to be the sweeper and defend the goal from Newmarkets forwards.
Hunters made a strong start and had some shots on goal kept out by Newmarkets strong sweeper before Helen opened the scoring after a scrappy fight in the D.
There was a moment of panic for Catherine who was all set to step up and defend a penalty flick with no Goalkeeper kit after Stacey kicked the ball off the pitch, until Kath decided a short corner would be safer!
Hunters managed to defend the short corner but did concede a goal just before half time.
Hunters had a strong second half with great runs from Ellie, Liz and Isla but it was Maria who managed to score a second to put Hunters in the lead.
Newmarket had a few shots in the last 10 minutes, the closest skimming past the post of a Goalkeeperless goal so Hunters came away with the win.
POTM nominees included Maria and three family members making their debuts Ali, Isla and Maya with Ali winning the title. Special mention for Maya who turned up to ease into her first game gently by playing a few minutes each half but ended up playing the full match looking as though she'd been playing all season.
